MEET THE LENSBLR-NETWORK STAFF-"Fernando Socorro" (Assistant Editor)
Hello all. My name is Fernando Socorro. I am Cuban born, Miami bred, living in California since late 1994; I now reside in Davis, CA. I am old, bilingual, somewhat ambidextrous, sarcastic, spiritual. I am a Taurus who loves long walks on the beach.
I joined Lensblr in October, 2012. In February 2012, I volunteered to join the team of New Member Submissions editors. Later, in June, I was asked to be part of the Assistant Editor team, going through the tracked posts and selecting pictures for publication, based equally on staff votes and personal gut feeling. Immersing myself in critical analysis and appreciation of other photographers’ work helps me refine and expand my own style. This is my third shot at photography, but this time it feels like a permanent romance because I am intellectually engaged and part of a great Tumblr original photographer community. I am still overwhelmed by how supportive and intellectually engaging my followers and my Lensblr colleagues are.
At the University of California, Davis, I am both a student and staff. Academically, I am a PhD candidate (cultural studies), focusing on gender, race, media (especially TV/film), history, and power. Professionally, I am part of the tech support team that works with teachers, staff, and students and also with the tech development team.
My Tumblr is Tchotchkes and Other Strangers. Feel free to contact me via my Ask. Oh, and find what you love and do it with love.
Capturing the rising Super Moon in the shadows of the setting regular sun, except one. Yolo County Bypass Wildlife Area, 06-22-13.
Funny, I got there just in time, 7:55 pm, but it was so sunny still that the picture would have been a see-through white moon, some grass, and a barely visible silhouette of Sacramento, so I took a couple of pictures of these folks.
